Mae is Here!

Quinn\’s Mae arrived this week for a visit and a nice warm break from Chicago.   It\’s great to have her here and Quinn and Sonic can\’t get enough of her 🙂

On Wednesday Quinn went to a friend\’s house after school so Barbara and I had a little extra time and took advantage by spending the afternoon in Santa Monica.

There were alot of characters out and about and I saw this odd grandma with her walker.  Then I saw her do a cartwheel over her walker.  And then I saw the film crew.  I think they might have been shooting Bad Grandma?  Similar to Bad Grandpa.

After a walk down pier we went to the Third Street Promenade for a little window shopping.   The christmas tree is up!!

What a beautiful afternoon!

1st Grade Thanksgiving Friendship Feast

On Friday the 1st Grade Class at Quinn\’s school had a Thanksgiving Friendship Feast.  It also happened to be Student Council Spirit Day so the kids could wear PJ\’s and take in their favorite stuffed animal.  A busy day!

All the kids picked a Native American name and this was Quinn\’s.

They made placemat for their feast.

Their beautiful table set up by the very talented Room Parents 🙂  Mae is here for a visit so she helped out and got to see Quinn\’s class and meet his teacher and some of the parents.

Here they come.  Let the chaos begin!

Don Runs!

A couple of months ago Don decided to run in the Ventura half marathon which is 13.1 miles.  He\’s been training for it and really enjoying it.
The big weekend was here and it was time to run.   His race started at 7:15 am.
Here\’s a look off of our balcony and you can see Don in his bright orange shirt walking towards the starting line.

Don expected to pass the hotel around 8:30 am so Quinn and I went out to cheer him on!  Here he comes.  It was interesting because the \”boardwalk\” was open to the general public.  And the race included a 5k, 10k, half marathon and full marathon so it was a busy place with the usual Sunday crowd and all the various racers.

The route made a U-Turn and finished back near the starting line.  Don\’s goal was to finish under 2 hours.

He started 2 minutes after the first group so his time was about 1:55.  Wahooooo!!!

Looking good!!!
Quinn and I are so proud of him accomplishing his goal!  Although based on post-race aches and pains that may be his last half marathon….but HE DID IT!
