School Stuff

Crazy Hair day at school and Quinn went with a half and half look.

He had his first book report.  They had to pick either a spooky or mystery book and had the option of doing several different presentations.  Quinn went with the book Key Lardo and chose to make a diorama.

(He decided to color his hair red again after showering the crazy hair day out.)

This is how the Thanksgiving breaks goes for Quinn and Sonic.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Our kitchen was put back together just in time for me to destroy it with a big Thanksgiving dinner.   It\’s just the three of us this year, but we still go all out.
Normally we go for a long hike on Thanksgiving, but this year it is over 90 degrees.  But around 4 pm it started to cool down so we took Sonic out for a walk.

I might be a little bit obsessed with lens flare and sunbursts…as you will see.

 Limbo under the gate.

One of my favorite family pictures is this one on Thanksgiving in 2007 at our Moorpark home.  Quinn was about 6 weeks old and had his first real smile that morning.  We put Quinn in the Baby Bjorn and took Smitty and Darwin out for a walk.  Quinn hated the sun in his eyes and was screaming his head off.  Grams was visiting and took this picture of us.

Ten years later I thought it would be fun to recreate that picture in our TO home and another yellow lab.

It was warm enough that we could eat outside.  Not the greatest picture but that\’s ok.

Last year Quinn discovered the joys of gravy.  So he was really looking forward to turkey and gravy.

After dinner we had a quick clean up and then we jumped in to the pool for a family swim.  Happy Thanksgiving California Style!

ATA: Day 11 Beach to Home

I\’m going home today.   Yesterday I was sad about having to leave but today I\’m ready to see my guys and sleep in my own bed.
First, iced coffee!  Sue and I walked down to our favorite place and when we told our server, Pancake, that we were going home she made us an extra big coffee to go.

I learned so much about seeing and capturing the light on this trip.  Our home in the jungle.

A view to the beach.

There are these little crabs on the beach that get to work first thing in the morning digging their holes as the tide goes out.  They put the sand in their mouths and create these little sand balls.

One more longboat picture before I leave.

We had one last lunch at our favorite restaurant before leaving.  It\’s funny that they are known for the tuna salad so alot of our meals included tuna melts or a greek salad with tuna salad.  Mine always included an iced coffee.   Perfect coffee, creamy milk, just the right amount of sugar, and a beautiful flower.
And one last picture of the gang before we all go in our separate ways.   Our group had such a great dynamic and we got along so well.  We had so much fun and so many laughs together.  (Photo courtesy of Brian Tausend)
We took the 1:30 longboat and then a 2 hour van ride to Phuket.  My flight left at 6:55 pm on Thursday and arrived in LAX at 8:55 pm on Thursday.  I really enjoyed flying on Cathay Pacific and made good use of my time by journaling and documenting this amazing adventure, with a glass of champagne.
