Little Boy Blue

Quinn and I had some fun outside today. Quinn in his blue coat, blue gloves, blue hat, and blue eyes. Oh, and little blue engine. Me with my camera. But when I get a shot like this, I\’m happy I\’m so shutter happy! What I love about this picture is that it is straight out of the camera without any cropping or adjustments. I think he just pops off the page.

We started off down the driveway with Thomas and made an abrupt stop at a puddle at the bottom of the driveway. What\’s a boy to do? Get wet and dirty!

Then check out the mud in the yard…

…and splash in the puddles.

And he wonders why his glove is so wet and muddy.

And pants!

About an hour after walking out the front door we made it to the park. Quinn the Scientist needs to understand how this gumball is going to roll down the slide.

And then a fun trip down the slide.

A walk along the ledge. I way overexposed this photo but with a couple of adjustments I thought it turned out pretty cool.

Quinn loves to cover his Thomas with leaves. \”What happened Thomas?\” he says.

After an afternoon of adventure it was time to head home for a long soak in the bathtub and another early bedtime. Good night my sweet boy. We had another great day together.

Nap Update

OK, some good and some bad. We had a couple of good nights where Quinn went to bed around 7:15 – 7:30 and slept 12ish hours. Last night he went to sleep pretty quickly at 7:30 but was up at 4 am. What is up with that?!?! I got him to fall asleep on the couch around 7:30 am but the dog woke him up shortly thereafter and didn\’t nap the rest of the day. So early to bed tonight and we\’ll keep rolling with the punches.

I\’m really enjoying 2+ hours with Don at night but I\’m really not getting anything done during the day. It\’s an adjustment for all of us.

Is Nap Time Over?

It seems that whenever I put something in writing about Quinn\’s sleep habits, they change. So we\’ll see how this goes.

It appears that afternoon naps may be over. I\’ve noticed that generally it takes much longer for him to fall asleep at nap time (30 minutes vs 5 minutes). If he does nap then he\’s not really for bed time until 10 or 11 pm or later and again it takes him a long time to fall asleep. For the past 4 – 5 days we have been skipping naps and bed time is a breeze. In fact, it\’s 7:15 right now and he\’s in bed and asleep. Wowsers! And he\’ll sleep through the night and probably not wake up until 8:30 am. Don and I are very much enjoying our evenings together. OK, the bad part is that I don\’t get a nap break during the day anymore. And, Q may doze off around 5 pm so I need to keep him active.

We\’ll go with the flow and see what happens. Quinn gave up his 2nd nap earlier than the average kid so we\’re not surprised about this.
