Soccer Time

Quinn started playing soccer with the American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) league.  It\’s an all volunteer league and really popular in our area.

He needed some new gear for his first practice on Wednesday night.   Awesome!!

The coach is life long soccer lover and is really great with the boys.  Here is Quinn with Coach Randy dribbling through the cones.

An iPad Summer

This summer has been dominated by the iPad.
We don\’t have alot of friends yet so it\’s usually just me and Quinn.  We\’ve been on a couple of adventures and we get out of the house every day but we both spend alot of time on screens.
But lately Quinn has found TED Ed.  If you\’re not familiar with TED…
TED is a nonprofit devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks (18 minutes or less). TED began in 1984 as a conference where Technology, Entertainment and Design converged, and today covers almost all topics — from science to business to global issues — in more than 100 languages. Meanwhile, independently run TEDx events help share ideas in communities around the world.

Quinn\’s favorite TED Ed videos that he watches over and over….
So yes, he plays alot of Minecraft and Terraria and other crap on his iPad.  But he can also tell you the size of the Pacific Garbage Patch, what products contain nurdles and damage ocean life, why MRSA is so resistant, and much more that I will ever know about tattoos.
It\’s an iPad summer.

Kidspace Museum

On Saturday we wanted to get out of the house.  I remembered this place in Pasadena called Kidspace.  I mentioned to Don that they had a \”Physics Forest\”.  Decision made.

The kaleidoscope entrance.  Very cool!

This was the very cool Raindrop Climber.  You climbed up these clear circles to the top about 40 feet high where you had a view out the window over the roof.

The Wisteria Climber.

All that climbing made for one hot boy.  Time for some shade and lunch.

It was a hot one.

The many faces of Q.

And finally, the Physics Forest!!

There were 13 hands on experiments for Quinn to check out.

The Giant Lever.

Time to go home and take a dip.

Evidence that I was there too.
