Quinn’s Senior Year

I am back to kick off and document Quinn’s Senior Year of high school. Expect more frequent posts!

It started in early August when Quinn went in for his Senior Pictures. They take the classic tuxedo picture for the yearbook, a cap and gown photo, and we opted for a handful of additional photos. The photography studio has a wall for the seniors to sign and Quinn chose the highest spot he could reach.

Band Camp starts 2 weeks before the 1st day of school. It’s the best and hardest thing these kids do. It’s physically taxing in the hottest part of the year and they are exhausted.

One of my volunteer jobs is to make sure all the kids have a well-fitting uniform which we store in the Uniform Shed. On the ceiling of the Uniform Shed is 25 years of Marching Band history. Every year a “Tour Shirt” is made from a student’s winning drawing depicting that year’s Performance Theme. For example last year the performance was called Maiden Voyage and was about a shipwreck. You can see Hayden’s winning design in the lower left corner.

This year Quinn auditioned to be in the schools top jazz band called Studio Jazz Ensemble. This is the first year he has room in his schedule and so he went for it — and made it! They recorded their audition videos over the summer and submitted it on line.
