Greece: Santorini

Our last stop was Santorini, which was my favorite because it was like no place I had ever been. We stayed in this cute cave hotel built into the side of the hill in the town of Oia.

This is looking down on our hotel. Me Ra had warned us that Santorini had lots and lots of stairs and she wasn’t kidding. Most days my watch told me that I climbed 60+ sets of stairs.

Zoomed in a little closer.

Oia has the classic white buildings with the blue domed roofs.

That evening we set out to capture one of the most iconic scenes that you will probably recognize. Me Ra warned us that there would be huge crowds to watch the sunset, everyone would clap, and then leave as soon as the sun dipped below the horizon. And she was exactly right.

We waited for 95% of the people to leave and then that’s when the magic happened. The lights started coming on and the pools started to light up. In photography, we call this the Blue Hour. Just breathtaking.

Sue and I went on a little photo walk the next morning and hit a local boutique to get sundresses.

And then it was on to a winery tour, first stop ATM.

When we got back to the hotel, we were trying to take pictures of each other when Me Ra came along and showed us how it’s done. She is so good with posing and angles.

Some scenes from the little village of Oia.

One last look out my front door. And a look down.

I flew out with the Bouchard crew with a 4:20 am pick up, as you can tell.

So thankful I took the chance of traveling with Me Ra & Brian in 2017 to Thailand. They have introduced me to so many magical places and so many wonderful people. Until our next adventure!
