Quinn was eager to get his learner’s permit, which he can get at 15 1/2, and start driving the “Party Car”. He passed the written test on his first try. Wahoo!

In California you are required to drive with a certified driving instructor for 2 hours before your permit is valid and you can drive with an adult. So 5 days later we made it happen!

And that night Quinn drove us to dinner. I might have been a little nervous. I told him that I was confident that he was going to be a good driver one day (just not today).

He has since had 6 hours of driving with his instructor and about 15 hours with us….and has become a really good driver. I really enjoy being driven around. He has even been out on the 101 and other freeways.

He will have two more 2-hour driving lessons, one on freeways & canyons and one to practice for the driving test, and needs to have 50 hours driving with us. He will be eligible to get his license around Thanksgiving.
