Day at the Beach

Don had some catching up to do with work on MLK day so Quinn and I headed to the beach.
I had heard about this great beach called Leo Carillo in Malibu which is supposed to be great for kids.  Sometimes you can\’t appreciate how great it is until you experience it.   BTW, we can get to Malibu in 20 minutes.  Why aren\’t we there more often?
I knew to go at low tide to experience the tide pools.  Quinn and his yellow bucket.

The tidepools and the seaweed.  Quinn loves both.

A look to the south.

Did I mention caves?

With a secret exit!

The perfect place for somersaults.

We climbed up on the rocks, although mom is a scaredy-cat!

We had lots of fun with the hermit crabs and snails, which were in full abundance.

A great couple of hours that I plan to repeat again and again.

Discovery Cube

This past weekend we visited the brand new Discovery Cube in LA.  Quinn had a great time but is probably right at the top of the appropriate age range for the museum.
The tornado.

Using a pulley to pull himself up.

This was his favorite activity.  The Inspector.  The kids used this device to inspect the house and learn about emergency preparedness, recycling, safety, etc.  I have to admit it was pretty cool.

A simulator for the Santa Ana winds.  As you can see, it was pretty windy in there.

Sick Day

Quinn turned his 3 day weekend in to a 4 day weekend by staying home sick on Friday.  The day started out slow but he was fine by about noon.  Lots of kids sick in his class from the stomach flu to the full blow flu.  So far we have avoided the worst of it.

This is what a sick day in our house looks like.
